i finished it in one sitting. i'm not into Poetry but this one is not so bad, i liked it but i won't be re-reading it again.

It's just not my cup of tea. I was hoping for more emotion-inspired poetry and was a bit disappointed. The poems are too casual, too simple and dull. ARC kindly provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Many of the poems in this collection beautifully express the pain and anguish of love living alone in the heart of a woman. I very much enjoyed reading them.I gave only 3 stars because it seemed to me that sometimes the poetic flow has been broken by a conversational writing style ('can someone prescribe me something so I can go numb?' I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I read about 50% and then decided to give this up. Let's talk about the cover and title first. I was between one or two stars but after the last 20 pages I was obviously that I didnt like this book. Sincerely I guess the author of this book need therapy and maybe me too after read so sad and pathetic poems. Sincerely I am not sure how I managed spent my time reading this, super dissapointed. 1.5/5 stars: I won't be reading this again. Note to readers: This book is for the broken-hearted. I did not enjoy this book very much. It was boring, hard to finish, very surfaced, and too literal. This book made King sound like she was trying to be a poet rather than actually being one. The overuse and repetition of certain words in almost every other poem annoyed me. 3.7 stars it's filled with sadness. sadness that you can't help but relate too, the author displayed all kind sadness, breaking up, being cheating on, abusive relationship, being a mistress.... losing and being lost. loving and being loved. this book had everything. i loved it, even though i felt the shift between one sad situation to another was a little bitt too random, i mean i think the poems' order could've been better، more synchronized i guess?

I've never, in my life, read a poetry collection that hit me this hard. This was absolutely beautiful, breathtaking, and relatable. Definitely my favorite poetry collection so far.
3.5/5 Good, but not groundbreaking. There were some really solid poems in here and a couple that I loved. On the whole though, I found myself skipping through the longer pieces (which I usually love). They just did not hold my interest. Honestly though, poetry is so subjective. What does not speak to me may speak to you! All in all, a solid — if not mind-blowing — book of poetry.

“I lost everything trying to do right My sanity, my hope, and eventually the will to keep trying What was shameful wasn’t the way you loved me but the way I loved you You could never match what I gave and deep down I always knew it” I’m lost of words. So much emotion. Beautifully written. I don’t know what the people are talking about down there on the reviews.
It felt like unfinished stories. Scribbles you write when you try to fancy up some sentences. The majority of these 'poems' would've been much better if they were written in paragraph forms, and a poem is not just a paragraph distributed on linear sentence one under the other.
It’s never good to say, “Well, that was disappointing,” to oneself after finishing a book. The first 40-50% was decent, but I really had to push myself through the extremely repetitive second part. Some of the poems were relatable and impacted me, but the majority was overly simple, uninspired prose.
4.5/5 Some of the poems actually made me cry, totally loved this.

Feelings are not poetry if you don't know how to use language properly. This was nothing but a bunch of paragraphs about certain feelings and situations that Samantha clearly experienced. And there's nothing wrong with putting your feelings into words as long as you know where they fit. But these are not poems, they're just things you write to get them out of your chest that will matter to no one but you and that need to be read by no one, ever. I really loved and resonated with some of these poems, and think they are probably relatable for most people. However, I wish the author would’ve focused a bit more on friendship and not only on love, and some of the poems just simply didn’t really move me.
I really liked this book. The poems weren't memorable, but I really enjoyed them. I think I preferred the ones that weren't talking about heartbreak, even though I usually find the sad ones more beautiful.
